Aikaterini I. Matsakou received the Diploma in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Patras, Patras, Greece, in 2008, and the M.Sc degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Patras, Patras, Greece, in 2011. She is currently working towards the Phd degree with the Biomedical Simulations and Imaging Laboratory, School of electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens, Athens, Greece. Her PhD Thesis deals with the development and implementation of methodologies for the automatic segmentation of vascular ultrasound images in order to facilitate and improve the diagnosis of atherosclerosis in the carotid artery. Her research interests include biomedical image and signal processing and analysis, biomedical informatics and computer-aided diagnostic systems. She has authored two papers, in the 33rd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC 2011) and the IEEE International Simposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI 2013) respectively.
Ms. Matsakou is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (IEEE-EMBS).
